Ducks in Rainboots Pattern
I sketched up ducks in different poses and turned it into a repeating pattern. I have some of my preliminary sketches below and the final ducks. It was fun to play around with very cute poses for the duck. I wanted the pattern to be appealing on children's clothing, bibs, or even blankets.
Dog Repeating Patterns
I played around with a lot of fun and bright colors so the dogs would be eye-catching but also cohesive with one another. With the other design I played with darker colors, while still having some fun pops with reds and yellows. I played around with a slight texture on both the patterns as well.
Animals & Plants
Animals tend to be my favorite to draw and animate in my spare time. They give me a lot of inspiration in times when art block tends to hit.
Cat Postcard
I utilized round shapes and rounded edges to have an appealing and soft feeling to the postcard. I stuck to a mocha color palette with lots of use of browns, tans, and soft pinks.
Goat Farm Tote Bag Mockup
I used to go to the Goat Farm in Atlanta, GA, for acting lessons in high school so I took inspiration from it. I started out with a sketch on paper and transitioned over to Illustrator. I was stuck between a few different options when it came to options and style.
(Sadly the real place lacks goats!)
Cats Who Speak
I was playing around with more cats this time. I played around with the premise that if a cat could speak like us, what would they say? I played around with textures and typography for these two pieces.
"Winter's Greetings" Instagram style Post
I wanted to go with a seasonal piece of typography as we are heading into Winter. I didn't go with the traditional greens and reds but instead went with more neutral colors. I wanted it to feel cold like winter without using the traditional greens and reds for season greeting cards. My original sketch had a lot of elements going on but I decided to keep it more simple.
Frame by Frame Magazine Mockup
A magazine cover called 'Frame by Frame' using my character Orange. I wanted to design an appealing magazine cover that would utilize not only animation terminology such as 'frames' but also show different frames of traditional animation using Orange as our eye-catcher. A sample page was designed to be an introductory page to the mascot Orange in a silly and lighthearted manner. Preliminary sketch for potential layout of the spread is below as well.
Pears and Persimmons
I was experimenting with the blend tool to give the fruit a nice soft feel to them. I also played around with grain textures and opacity masks to give it a textured outline.
The Chinese Zodiac
The Twelve Chinese Zodiac animals represented using a variety of styles. Made in a 4:3 ratio to fit as potential Instagram posts. I stayed closer to making most of them as photo collages making sure to utilize plenty of texture.
A handful of random experimental projects done using Illustrator and/or Photoshop.
